The Moon, She is a Muse
As a healer it is very common for me to have an increase in people reaching out to me three or four days before the full moon. am guided to remind people to ground, to do things that help them feel safe and OK during the period of intense reflection and heightened emotion that starts about three days before and continues the three days after the full moon.
I learned a decade ago that this increase of intensity that the moon calls up in us is not torture, but rather, an opportunity for us to look at what is coming up for healing, remember how to ground and feel the support of mother earth that is always accessible to us and dig in deep to witness the triggers and memories and frustrations that bubble to the surface during this time. Just as the oceans swell at the time of the full moon, so do our hearts and minds and spirits swell with the urgency to release old patterns, witness our own beauty and begin moving in the direction of the creativity that we are being welcomed to flow out of ourselves.
The full moon encourages three main things:
An opportunity to ground an feel into the support nature offers us
An opportunity to look up and witness our own beauty and creativity reflected down to us in the mirror face of the moon
An opportunity to release sorrow, fear, old patters and frustrations
So, how do we avail these opportunities?
Begin spending more time sitting in nature or waking in nature. Spending time with a gratitude journal, thanking the universe for the many way you are shown that you are loved. Spend time decorating your home with things that you have been given by nature, pretty leaves, flowers, feathers, stones all bring the element of earth into our home and act as a reminder that we are loved and safe and surrounded by beauty that we can connect to whenever we are feeling afraid, frustrated our misunderstood.
Begin moon watching. Witnessing the way the moon journeys in her size and shape is so metaphoric for the journey we go through in life and witnessing her majestic beauty just softens our heart and enables us to see our own inner beauty. It makes if possible for us to accept that even though our moods may shift and our direction may change and we might not meet all of our goals we will always go through a shift that has seeded within it the possibility for a new chance and that whatever phase we are in, we are still beautiful and it is still perfect!
As you gaze up at the moon allow yourself to express your awe. \I often find myself seeing love songs to the moon only to realize that I am singing them to me. She is a muse, she inspires poetry and has done so since the beginning of time. Allow yourself to connect to her and know her as your own mind. Look up at her luminescent face and see yourself there. You too are the muse and the poet and the enthralled all in one! The light we witness as moonlight is actually the light she reflects back to us from the sun. You are also a reflection of divinity here on this earth plane. Know your beauty and allow yourself to be inspired by the thoughts and creative ideas that flow to you from your soul and express them here on earth without All of our ups and downs are nothing more than poetry, movement and shift. This is the dance of life.holding back.. Witnessing the moon reminds us that we are beauty. We are perfection and we are constantly growing and changing and becoming full in our expression and then sinking into the ashes of completion only to be reborn and grow again!
Write Love Letters and Offer Your Songs, Candles and Forgiveness
The week before the full moon begin writing down things that you love about yourself. These can be in list form or they can be love letters to yourself.
Allow yourself to write words that are just dripping with beauty and then, hold these words up to your heart.
Light a candle and let the glow of the candle touch your skin, just sit in the glow of your candle and these sweet words and know that you are worthy of these words of love. Look into the flame and visualize that it is lighting the pat back seven generations and forward seven generations and just forgive all the situations that have had your ancestors feel unworthy of love.
Forgive all the ways that your parents did not know how to witness you.
Forgive whatever is the wall between you and the ability to see the lover you just wrote your praises to; and in the glow of this light intend that all is well and all is and ever shall be perfect. Exhale and breath this love and forgiveness and perfection out to your children, grandchildren and forthcoming seven generations.
Let your intention be the attention of love and acceptance. Honor yourself by listening to beautiful music and sing love songs to yourself and the universe to remember that we are floating in a sea of love and beauty, if we choose to witness it.
